Party mode - up to 8 in one room

The categories word game is most fun when everyone plays at once. In party mode you open a room, invite friends, and everyone plays the same letters and categories at the same time. At the end there is one question left: who tops the leaderboard?

How to open a room

1. Choose Party on the home screen and tap Open room.
2. Invite friends from your list - anyone who accepts drops straight in. You can also add bots to fill empty seats.
3. Start when you are ready. Whoever opened the room is the host and decides when the game begins. Two players are enough.

Nobody around to play right now?

You do not have to wait for friends to come online. The host can set the room to open, and any player looking for a game can join. Or the other way around: tap Join an open room and drop into one that is already waiting for players. And you can always fill the gaps with bots.

How you play

• Three rounds. Each round draws one letter and six categories.
• 90 seconds a round. Everyone types at the same time, each on their own device.
• An answer only you gave: 10 points. If other players in the room gave it too, everyone gets 5.
• A wrong or empty answer: 0 points. No penalties.
• After three rounds the final leaderboard is set, and the highest score wins.

Why it plays so differently

• Originality pays. London is safe, but someone else probably wrote it too, so you all get 5. Dare to name a rarer city and you take the full 10.
• Everyone on the same field. Same letter, same categories, same clock. No luck - the fast, clever thinker wins.
• Places 1 through 8. It is not just win or lose - there is drama in the fight for third, too.
• Nobody sits out. Friends, random players and bots share the room, so the game is always full.

Tips for a full room

• Think what everyone will write - and skip it. The more players in the room, the higher the odds the obvious answer is already taken.
• Never leave a category empty. Even a shared answer worth 5 beats zero. Fill everything first, then improve.
• Use all 90 seconds. Done early? Go back to a category you closed with an obvious answer and try for something more original.
• Practice the broad categories. City, food and animal are full of rarer words worth the full 10.
